(58,785 posts)54. Here's a big reason most agents don't quit:

This is government work, paid by taxpayers, with the kind of benefits that once came with most jobs, but no more. The vast majority can't replace these incomes and benefits in the private sector. College degree is not required, though a little AA in criminal justice can help get hired over competition, and see the site and below for what draws competition.
Note on the pay chart the next grades above entry level, noncompetitive -- not bad at all for high school grads, and you move up just by being there.
13 to 26 days of annual leave accrued per year (variation based on years of Federal service)
10 Federal holidays per year
15 days of military reserve leave
13 days of sick leave accrued per year
Opportunities for paid training
They also, critically, work toward handsome retirement annuities, which would be lost if they quit. A 21-year-old who keeps his nose clean can retire if he chooses at either 41 or 46 with either a standard or augmented lifetime annuity. As the website puts it: "Employees that retire from CBP can count on the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) to enjoy life after working."

They were literally told by Trump and their superiors to whitewash the investigation.

It's beyond shameless. When their names do get exposed with that honor,

I agree. We need to run real investigations and people that did crimes or ignored

What I read is that he's on the federal bench for life, not the Supreme Court.
