So if there was a list of potential SCOTUS nominees, for example, they might want to register all of them in the most obvious forms. Some to it to block their use; some do it to preserve them for use; some do it because they can sell them
But, of course, there's no evidence of there being a list of potential SCOTUS nominees, surely.
This could be checked out. Look at the registration for "confirm____" where ____ stands for others on the list of mooted nominees from fall 2016. Were they also all registered? On the same day or adjacent days? Etc.
