Some recent comments from a Republican friend: [View all]

This friend is an "old" style R; not a neocon, not a fundamentalist; has never been partisan, just registered R because that's the way he leans. Sort of like the kind of Democrat I am; not partisan, not a neoliberal, but the party used to represent my values.

Recently we met to catch up on our lives. My R friend told me that the whole family is at the end of their rope, and will be switching to D now. The R insanity has driven them out and into the arms of what they perceive as a more reasonable party.

I wasn't surprised; the Democratic Party often reminds me of the pre-Reagan Republicans these days.

I'm wondering how many other moderate Republicans are considering doing the same if the Republican party continues to be led by the likes of the teaparty/Palin/Romney/Ryan.
