If democracy follows ... great! If it doesn't ... meh. Sounds pretty cynical but it is unfortunately, the reality of American foreign policy. We have overthrown many democratically elected governments in South and Central America since the late 1800's and in the Middle East, because the elected leaders expressed the desire to actually protect their nations from encroachment and exploitation by foreign governments.

Iran, Chile, Honduras, Brazil, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Argentina, and others have all felt the "benefit" of our spreading "democracy and freedom".
