(28,850 posts)they are available to talk...
FB is just a means to share with each other and others as well episodes of our day that interupting their day is not necessary
for example, my daughter has just had twins, she posts pics and expresses her
joy and satisfaction of new motherhood so all her friends can see it... if i didn't have FB, i wouldn't see that unless she sent me a txt also.. i suppose she could but she has her hands full already, so i get to share in that experience with many others...
as another example,
i'm friends with a person i used to work with years ago, her posts show on my wall... most times i don't feel a need to comment but i did tonite on a post ...
she only shows on my wall every other month or so, my comment is just a validation that i still see her and care about her... would i call to tell her so?
probably not.. we aren't that close, ex workmates, but i can let her know i see her and recognize her presence in my life still... she could shut off my contact anytime, as could i ... we don't and are both, i guess, ok with that... but i commented on her post, and she liked it 🙏🏻
i post many "political" cartoons, comments and statements on my FB wall ...
i never have any negative comments on them, and actually only few likes back from my FB friends, which leads me to believe
1- they are as a group with few exceptions, not using FB for political purposes or
2- the few friends i have on FB have unfriended me, which doesn't worry me at all...
in a way it's like noticing you, Skittles, have not placed me on ignore, nor i you, nor would i ever 😍 ... but it's still a bit of validation to know you exist in this cyberspace of DU (and haven't put me on ignore)
FB is like that too, just with family and friends who actually know me ..
now, kick my ass if you must, but i must tell you i'd consider it an honor
✌🏼
