If your county uses Ballot Marking Devices (touchscreens that produce a barcoded paper "ballot&quot but also offers vote by mail (or absentee ballot), opt for the vote by mail, but find out if you can bring your ballot to the vote center (or precinct) the day of the election.

At the very least, you will be able to submit a hand-marked paper ballot. Dropping it off the day of the election prevents anyone from tabulating your vote prior to election day.
