In reply to the discussion: If you wondered how sexual predator enabler Gym Jordon got elected [View all]Fritz Walter
(4,370 posts)20. I'm in FL Congressional District 4
Currently "represented" by John "Barney Fife" Rutherford. The District is bady gerrymandered, and so far has been a stronghold for RepubliCONs.

"So far" because a new Democratic challenger has stepped forward and launched her campaign this week:
Jacksonville-native Donna Deegan, the founder of The DONNA Foundation, announced her run for Congress on Thursday.
Healthcare is a top priority for Deegan and she says she wants to help ensure healthcare is a right for every American. She mentioned hearing the desire for background checks for gun sales from both Democratic and Republican voters and says she would support that as well.
Deegan says she's interested in finding out what people want and being their voice in Congress. She also says she doesn't like how divided politics have become and says she decided to run now because she believes we are at a pivotal point in our country.

This is refreshing, because Rutherford won't show his face in public. No town hall meetings since he was first elected.
The Jacksonville native and longtime news anchor is a three-time cancer survivor.
"I began hearing stories of women who were traveling the same road only they were trying to decide between putting food on the table for their kids or saving their lives," Deegan said.
She is the founder of 26.2 With Donna, which draws thousands of marathoners from around the world every year.

She has my vote, and I will donate to her campaign.
