this is not a new story. And the "new revelations" don't add a great deal to what was already out there. I'd suspect avid newswatchers are probably aware. But "firestorm" would surprise me.

(on the other hand .. it could be that a certain amount of constituents are just getting tired of the rumpled "everyman" Trump defender shtick)
