On the other hand, he also risks really damaging information being revealed in the hearings thus further eroding his base and certainly adding to the damaging info already in evidence. So a normal person might want to avoid a trial at all costs. We have to remember that tRump truly believes he can outsmart any Democrats who come after him and certainly all the lawyers hot on his trail. So knowing he’s got allies in the Senate, he just might allow the impeachment to go forward.

One always needs to keep in mind, however, that tRump is not mentally normal. So expecting normal behavior from him is naive on our part. Before pondering what he is doing and will do, we need to factor in all potential scenarios because with someone as erratic and unhinged as tRump is, you can never rule out any particular move he’ll make. He could face trial, counting on the repubs to save him. He could make a run for it and take his hateful family with him. He could defy everyone and have to be forced out of the White House at the business end of a gun. Buckle up, fellow Democrats. We could be in for a very rough ride before we know how this nightmare ends.
