8. The NFL is a mess right now. The AFC is completely non-competitive

The old guard that made the NFL has all passed away. It's mostly owned by billionaires now that own teams for vanity projects. Most of them care about winning less than they care about the resell value of the team. It shows in the product on the field which is frankly horrid most of the time. Particularly in the AFC which really has a handful of teams and the rest if fodder. Given that, it's no surpise none of this era of ownership wants to take on Kapernick. They're not there to win. They're there to show off their wealth.
