Firing is too tough. We need to use the event to teach.
A job at Starbucks is not a toy job. It represents real employment to a lot of of low income, underpaid workers, un-benefitted employees who try to support themselves and family with them. It means the difference between shelter and the streets and hungry and fed children.
Taking away a source of income is not proportional to a bad choice that does not hurt anyone. People are even let out of jail to work and keep their jobs, why pile onto a minimum wage worker. Why does a stupid act by the weaker in society against the more powerful draw such vengeance? If he's given that cop (cop - a word that was about as strong as pig not all that long ago) the finger and he was arrested, he'd been released on first amendment issues.
This was not proportional at all.
