4. Sears could have been the tip of the spear on internet commerce

Thanks to their catalog operation, they were already way ahead of the game. They had the rep, the distribution network, etc. They were the original Amazon and could have easily taken it to the next level. But they completely missed the boat.

This is very sad to me. Sears was a huge part of my life.
