40. Yep. They've been indoctrinated by their leaders...

...with the notion that the most important thing is to return America to being a “Christian nation” worthy of God’s favor, and that the specific way to do that is through “pro-life” (no abortion) and “pro-family” (no tolerance for LGBTQ) policies. Thus, making sure those become the law of the land is the end that justifies any means – including almost literally “making a deal with the devil.”

Lots of fundies equate Trump to King Cyrus of (ironically enough) Persia, a pagan who reestablished the Jews in Israel after they had been exiled. Keep in mind that Cyrus was not a Jew, and there’s not even much indication that he was thought of as a particularly good man by his Jewish subjects. But he “served God’s purpose.” Similarly, I suspect many, many evangelicals realize Trump is an evil person, and expect him to wind up in Hell. But, to their minds, it doesn’t matter. As long as he can make sure America is put back on the “right road” (by ending abortion, same-sex marriage, and LGBTQ rights), they need to support him 100% in achieving those goals…and then, once they’ve gotten what they wanted, and America has become a “Christian nation” certain to be the recipient of God’s blessings, he can be abandoned to his dire fate.
