Nothing in all the history of Democratic conventions will ever top the simple, terrible, heart-shattering beauty of Robert Kennedy standing before the convention in 1964, unable to speak for minute after minute after minute, because the assembly simply would not stop cheering him and his fallen brother John.



That will never be topped.

P.S. William Jennings Bryan could give a good speech, too, I hear.
