which may be one reason why it took a few days for the numbers to come out. Sometimes, someone will be "normal" for hours or days after the injury happens before the headaches and blurred vision and loss of balance, etc start.
It happens like that to football players. Sometimes they don't realize they are hurt until a while after the actual blow that hurt them.
Soldiers do have helmets and other protective gear, but the concussive force of modern weaponry will still do damage.
"We" put them in harm's way, they need to be cared for, and not diminished like the President tried to do.

My Dad suffered a TBI in the Battle of the Bulge in WW II. Bomb went off near him.
