(22,281 posts)unlike Russia, or other possible analogs, is the utter mess of our election systems, equipment and processes. We're all over the place, disjointed and decentralized. Every state has different processes, systems, equipment and rules. Even within states there are huge differences between counties or regions. It's a hacker's nightmare. The operation necessary to truly hack a national election in this country, or even in just a few key states, would need to be so large and involve so many people that it would be impossible to avoid detection. A single state, with a corrupt Sec State like Ohio in 2004 or Georgia in 2018, yes. Multiple states, many with Democratic Governors, with Dems on state election boards, etc., such as NC? Not so much. And why would you, when you can just propagandize your way to victory on Facebook? Easier and a hell of a lot cheaper to get the nuts and old farts fired up and out to vote. The key, as always, will be turn out. And if 2018 is an example, the turn out will be the largest we've seen in modern history. It's going to be one hell of a nasty fight to the finish, but we will win. Remember who typed that on the 1st Wednesday or November.
