There's always just this undercurrent of racism when it comes to the societal contributions to black entertainers/athletes that puts me off whenever one of them is mentioned on DU.

We're the party that advocates the most for costly social programs, yet people like the poster act so dumb when it comes to how massive amounts of taxable revenue are made.

Sports tourism is a massive and profitable industry, and while I don't think you have to worship the guys, there's just this profound ignorance and frankly disrespect for jobs that generate that tourism and that income. I've seen first hand the effects of have a local sports team can be on a city. Hell, even nearby towns make money off of having a popular sports team in the next team over.
