(18,881 posts)I'm an atheist anyway, but having someone who is so divisive say the benediction was wrong. This man had no place in our convention. I'd never even heard of him until his hateful rhetoric was brought to my attention, and sadly, I think that most people don't know who he was or how inappropriate it was for him to be involved in any way, shape or form with the DNC. I'm so thankful for DADT and the updated Democratic Part platform, and that the LGBT community had a larger role than ever before in this convention, but it's clear we still have a ways to go. I'm really sad that this person has hurt so many people, and that for whatever reason, he was allowed to close out what was a beautiful 3 days. I hope that next time, there is no room for intolerance, even in the name of "inclusiveness". Bigotry has no place in our party.
