In reply to the discussion: Trump Wants John Bolton Criminally Investigated After Impeachment [View all]patphil
(8,888 posts)If the Republicans had allowed him to testify then the book would be almost impossible to stop...too much of it would already be public record.
Now it may be subject to review and redaction of parts deemed "sensitive".
This process could stretch out for months and result in a book that has no impact on Trump's re-election.
At least, that's what the Republicans would like to have happen.
From my cynical point of view, this book has the potential to be big bucks for Bolton. But, it must be complete and unedited. If it gets hacked up with lots of blacked out sections, or actual removal of content, then it won't be worth a crap and sales will be tepid.
Bolton needs to quickly counter with more interviews, more releases of content to the media, and possibly House testimony if he wants to make a decent profit from the book.
His profit window will close if the book is delayed past the election.
