I wasn't even 10 years old yet and really was watching the DNC Convention because of Jimmy Carter. I liked the man who grew peanuts because Peanut Butter was my favorite food.

But the thing about Barbara Jordan and her impact on me was this - I was raised in a county that was 99.9% all white and well a place like that in the mid-70s tends to be alot of racism. Now I wasn't some kid spouting off the 'n-word' any chance I could get but I was a bit conflicted over what the kids were saying in school. She made me see an America that is open to all people and her message has been with me now for almost 40 years. She is a beautiful woman inside and out!

Barbara Jordan taught me to think for myself and not to judge people on what others say but on what they say! As much as I enjoyed such memorable keynote speeches by the likes of Ann Richards and Barack Obama I have to say this one was most memorable!

BTW she was Keynote speaker TWICE!!

Bill Clinton had her as his Keynote Speaker in 1992. I suspect she had the same impact on Bill Clinton as she had on me!!
