20. The Republican Party would never nominate Mitt Romney again

Not before this vote and especially not after this vote. He is viewed as a loser and now a traitor. He doesn't have 1% chance at the presidency. This is hardly Dick Nixon revisited.

Romney is one of the few who understand the big picture and long term perspective. This vote will ultimately be viewed as correct, so Romney's image and stature will improve. Trump will go down as one of the worst Americans of all time. Romney's name will be quickly summoned as the one Republican gutsy enough to vote for his conviction. Names like Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski will drift into obscurity.
