In reply to the discussion: What type of household was Trump raised in that he turned out so damaged? [View all]vlyons
(10,252 posts)I imagine that as a kid he had dyslexia and ADHD. So he was always academically behind in Grade school, which must have set the pattern for his deep insecurity about being thought smart, and his anger at being teased and made to feel stupid and inadequate. As a teen, his parents couldn't control or discipline him, so they packed him off to a military boarding school. Out of sight, out of mind.
Trump's greatest fear is being thought a loser. Which he is, of course. He's quite delusional. He's not a happy man. He gets great satisfaction and pleasure at hurting and humiliating his perceived enemies. What he's attempting to do is whittle them down to his size or less. Which ain't much.
As a Buddhist, I have to remind myself not to hate him. Beneath all that vile and vulgar ugliness, there is Buddha nature, although probably so teensy that a microscope is needed to find it. I try to see him as a master's class in ethical morality, or rather the lack thereof. He is a lesson in what dishonor and non-virtue look like. Won't we all breathe a sigh of relief, when he's gone?
