Huawei may make nice hardware but it's the software that makes them cheap - and if it's crap then sure anyone can hack in and listen and snoop. That's why the UK government are setting conditions on how and where Huawei's equipment can be installed when building out the UK's 5G network - namely not the main core or "brains" of the system, none of their stuff to be installed near sensitive locations (Westminster, military bases etc) and only 35% of a company's 5G network can be equipment from any one manufacturer.
