Our daughters will be 37 and 35. As dual nationals, BOTH of their countries (Germany and the USA) will be divided for a long time time to come. Bot let it happen by not paying attention to creeping interference by powers playing a longer game than either country. But they live divided, themselves (one in New York, one near Frankfurt), and somehow do well in their chosen fields.

Soon, it will be their world, and theirs alone to try and manage, hoping to leave a place worth living in for their own children. Sure, we all doubt their generation will do any better, but there's nothing wrong with hoping. Just always keep in mind, there are powerful people out there whose countries are less well-off than we are, and will do anything to bring us to their level. It's easier for them. Full bellies tend not to start fights (not everyone is Dick Cheney).
