My takeaway:

I got sick of hearing "totally prepared" and "best people." He made an effort to buck up Pence as being some kind of epidemic guru and then placed him in charge. Mike Pence is a manikin that sits behind the pRes and gazes lovingly at him. That's all he does. I have no confidence in Pence whatsoever. I do expect Pence to be thrown under the bus if something goes wrong, and Trump to take the credit if this thing fades away.

The Surgeon General was missing. Trump missed an opportunity to have a guy in uniform reinforce the press conference. Maybe Surgeon General Adams has the virus (or the flu) and Trump didn't want him around.

Trump claims that he closed the border and prevented people from coming in on planes, and said people called him racist, but he did it because of this virus. BS.

The guy that read off the five categories of things they had done or would do read a list that was upside down in terms of what needed to be done.

There is no vaccine, and development of a vaccine would take at least 12 months (his timeline.) There is a possible treatment, but it seems like, if that were the case, that drug would soon become unavailable. He did not say he was gearing up with that solution. They are planning trials. So, that will not really help anybody this year, if it became a treatment choice.

Someone asked if they would quarantine cities if it got worse, and Trump said that they were planning for a much larger scale action. This is chilling. What's that Orange Turd cooking up?

They called this press conference to tell us to wash our hands?

People, we can do this presser ourselves. None of those people needed to show up. Here it is: Wash your hands. Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Put your face in the crook of your arm and use that while turning away from any other human within 6 feet. Try to stay home if you are sick. There. These are things your mother taught you.

Meanwhile, the CDC itself has told you to get prepared. Prepared? Well, apparently they are out of N95 masks, so...what's left except food and water?

You need an N95 face mask which must be custom fitted, although only to differentiate small, medium or large. If you don't wear it properly, it won't work. The beard chart is not a joke. The lack of available face masks is the joke. How kind of them to show you how to wear a beard for a mask that you can't buy.

My impression is that they have absolutely no way to stop any spread of this virus, they don't even know very much about it, and they are hoping and praying that it plays out like the flu. We are on our own, and the emergency response was, well, the presser. But, pay attention to Trump's faint remark about planning for a much larger response to an-out-of-control contagion. He dismissed the reporter's question about city quarantines and answered that they were (already) planning for a much larger response. ??? Why can't we know what this means?

Well, we'll all relax when the Spring and Summer return, and worry like hell about this new bug we will now share with the world, next Winter.

Nothing to see here. Please don't bother Trump with your concerns. Talk to Pence.
