In reply to the discussion: Politico in All-out MELTDOWN Over DNC Convention? (updated) [View all]FBaggins
(28,718 posts)34. Let's try that again.
...you're basing this on some people who weren't "pleased"?
No... the premise of your reply was that many who used to be poorly represented in the platform were happy with the improvements. I merely pointed out that by that standard it was less than an unmitigated success (you did read the posts here regarding the ridiculous distregard of the clear majority on those last two platform changes... didn't you??). There are large numbers of people who used to play key roles in our conventions (union members... especially teachers) who have become disillusioned and were not brought back into the fold.
It was one of the fucking best of all time. It may have been the best.
Repeating it (and increasing the claim) doesn't make it any more true. It was in no sense one of the greatest. It wasn't a failure... but it wasn't any better than average. I repeat... the only person who could ever call it the best... must be too young to remember any others.
but don't pretend your opinion and subjective assertions are superior to other people's.
I didn't give a subjective opinion. I replied to one. I gave facts. The coverage and viewership were lackluster... gaffs were too plentiful... ammunition was given to the other side without cost... it lacked a unifying theme that could provide coattails to democrats in congress... and an RNC convention that earned almost no bounce at all and left us an opening - was not demolished as it should have been.

Even our local paper had to throw in a lame article about the President and the DNC.

So a "great convention" is now one in which you're represented in the platform?
