(5,946 posts)She was left broke when her husband died a with 4 kids and started her own business. Now a chain for 4 locations, run well, clean and safe and she is kind and generous with her money, unlike Romney, does not give it all to the church but several other charities. But... she watches Fox News. Usually during the quiet times, I will question her and watch her opinions morph a bit with the questions - the other day she went off on birther nonsense, so I asked what would be enough proof for her. She hates Donald Trump though (long story) so I asked if she minded being associated with Donald Trump I just kept pushing the Trump analogies, until she finally conceded that Obama was born in the US, but it is tiring because she has to come to her own conclusions, I can't "tell" her anything.
Arguing with these people will not win them over, Fox has prepared them for that, you just have to get them to think it all out., I think you were right to ask what exactly this woman lost. I would have pursued the conversation that way with feigned concern.
