It is up to the Church leaders to adapt and modernize the dogma as needed. That's poor advice and lousy, irresponsible shepherding of the flock.

As far as I recall, the problem back then was "unlcean spirits", etc. They had no obvious germ theory and I don't recall a word meaning virus being used in the bible. I don't recall any passage that accounts for a symbolic substitute for the Body of Christ to be anti-viral, even if one takes it as a transubstantiation spiritually.

From what I remember, the Talmud accompanied the Torah in the Judaic tradition, which was a compilation of Rabbinical commentary that would help the people interpret the scriptures in the Torah based on the situation and context. At least, it comes up in my fog here.

That's the way the modern Church should be handling this. Being an idiot should be considered a form of blasphemy since the mind thinks and they should be attributing that to their maker. You don't allow your flock to become deathly ill.
