Saint Ronnie conspired with the Iranian mullahs to hold onto the hostages until literally the moment he was inaugurated (the "Iran" in Iran-Contra), in exchange for parts for their military aircraft etc.

and Tricky Dick conspired with North Vietnam to hold off on signing a peace plan with the Johnson administration, which he knew would lead to a Humphrey victory, telling them he'd give them a better deal after the election.

Thom Hartmann has repeatedly laid this all out on his radio program--we haven't had a legitimately elected Republican president since Eisenhower.
