(6,508 posts)did not create this pandemic. I despise Trump and the entire GOP. They all have to go. But, this pandemic arose from nature (to not believe this is to believe that a certain unnamed country created it in a lab and it escaped.)
What the team would have provided is THE PLAN. Surely they had some kind of plan. There was a push by the government in the past (Obama) to train as many people as possible to react on a broad scale to any community disaster. We are not hearing about that anymore. It's like the government is cut off on Trump Island.
He wants to manage this disaster according to what is best for him politically, but he is overwhelmed by it. The team is irrelevant. They would have been irrelevant, just as the entire USPHS and the Surgeon General is irrelevant, even if they were not fired. He wants his own loyal minions in there to twist things in his favor. That's all he cares about, but it sure fell apart fast.
So, I think it is important to distinguish the fact that although it is optically bad for Trump, he would not have followed whatever emergency plan they might have provided had they been in place. He doesn't listen to anyone but his own gut instinct.
I love the fact that he is on tape about firing them. I love the fact that he said he doesn't accept any responsibility for any of it. That's the way he thinks, and it's on full display.
Maybe his base will think twice before expecting Jared to solve the problem, when Jared has only been brought in to manage Trump's optics for the election.
