Digitize any photos that you have and send copies to family members. This is the best way to make them flood- and fire-proof. Before digital cameras became good enough, I scanned my mother's old photographs and negatives at 4800 dpi, put them on dvds and handed those out to sister, brothers, nieces and nephews. Now a digital camera on a tripod can make a good copy and the Internet works for distribution.
