(40,522 posts)Our television plays DVDs and Netflix. That's all it does.
We quit television news years before we quit television..
I NEVER see or hear Trump on the television. I also have "Trump" on my DU trash-by-keyword list.
On the other hand, half my extended family is out of work. Young people are especially hard hit. Those of us who can still work will subsidize those who can't. A lot of people are not so fortunate, they don't have any kind of social safety net. As a community we have to look out for them.
My wife is a health care provider who has to touch people to do her job. These people may or may not be infected with the virus. She can't work at home like our children and I can. Her work is absolutely essential to the public health, as well as the health of her patients.
I'm over sixty and have been hospitalized for asthma and pneumonia several times in my life. My situation is scary, but I'm not letting it paralyze me.
The fact is MOST people are going to be infected, but it will be best for everyone if it's a slow burn rather than a wildfire that overwhelms our health care system.
If people "tune out" and become careless we increase the odds of catastrophe.
So yeah, this is sort of a big deal.
For some people it helps to talk about it.
