(15,033 posts)It elevates the immune " fighting" sub classes.....and does bring along at some level antigens that the donors had with them....COVID is new so there is no resistance established...The IVIG does build up the immunity of the recipient...may need a bi-weekly infusion as the levels drop...
IVIG is really, really expensive too....typical dose, say 30GMs...300 ml....price, $15,000...

I seriously doubt our COVID patient's are getting this drug...
The ongoing plea for blood donations seems a little off because all elective surgeries are cancelled...everywhere...Now we know, blood drvies are a marketing option, that's expected/normal sure, they will use this to build up supply but the excessive call...it feels " off" to me.
