5. In Louisiana, we should be about at that point

Our shelter in place order was put into effect on the 17th. Since then both deaths and new cases have continued to double every 3 days or so, but that's to be expected; it is right about now that we should start seeing the slowdown as the new cases which were prevented from spreading during the quarantine period start to not show up.

Deaths will unfortunately continue to double for two or three more weeks, since they lag new cases by about that interval.

Of course, for those parts of the country which have not yet effected countermeasures, once the ball gets rolling there will be nothing to stop it for awhile.
