If God-forbid a President elect passed away on January 19th, that person never would have been sworn in as President yet. The the VP-elect was not elected President-elect by the Electors.

That VP-elect is just that: VP-elect. Since she was not the VP yet, she might not be able to assume the jump from VP to President.

Then again, maybe she can. On the 20th, maybe she would be sworn in as VP. Then a minute late, she automatically moves up and gets sworn in again. One thing is for certain though, it would be a battle to the Supreme Court.
