(11,767 posts)I cannot say that part of me doesn't want to say, "I told you so" or something like that. We may not agree with everything the government does to "protect us". We know well here on DU that police (government workers) are often criticized for the way the enforce the laws with some groups versus other groups. We complain about wealth and income inequality that is built into the tax code and lack of political will to fund infrastructure versus military. We have a lot of problems with government.
The problem is that we are facing a novel, fast spreading virus that we still do no know all of the risks for. It damages lungs, kidneys, the heart, and if it doesn't kill you, it can leave you permanently debilitated.
I want to go outside too. I want to be able to move about freely with no concerns, but we are not there yet and the more that idiots rail against health orders, the longer this situation will last or the more people will be killed.
This guy died because he did not take the virus seriously. 40,000+ people have DIED in less than 2 months!!
Idiot Trump tweeted that President Obama's and Vice President Biden's response to H1N1 was a disaster because 12,400 people died in the course of a YEAR. He gives himself a 10 in his handling of the current crisis. You can't make this shit up. The people out there protesting agree with Trump's bull shit and think that we should all go back to work and outside while the virus has not yet been contained.
