It's like none of them have ever been properly socialized and have no idea how normal human beings act or interact. They have no idea how dysfunctional they are or how he is. They all have some sneaking suspicion that they don't quite cut it in society and are angry at the world, which is why Trump has such appeal for them. He is just as awkward and unlikeable as they are, but he is a powerful bully who is taking out his rage on the "winners" in society and his cult members are loving every minute of it.

Even his wealthy hangers-on are losers except for their money. They are all creeps, dorks and deficient in some way. It's like the revenge of the nerds, the hated, the rejected.
