He is an absolute buffoon and yet so many reputable, intelligent people seem to cower before him as if he were some kind of god. I cannot understand why so many people would throw their lives and careers away just to curry his favor.

It just seems bizarre to me. What is this power he has over them? I would think that if I was in their position I would do anything to get away from him.

There are enough people who also despise him who would offer these people jobs if they left. Why do they stay and allow their souls and reputations to be crushed by him?
