is worse is a terrible way to argue this. It indirectly "normalizes" sexual assault

Because of the curious timing, and changing renditions from Ms. Reade, it implies more a political strategy from certain circles, then actual concern for sexual assault, and I agree, it is a form of "swift boating", especially since a year ago was the time to bring this up
