(34,857 posts)This is revisionist history. Trump's allegations dominated the news days before the election. The pass wasn't given because Trump was out there, in press gaggles, on twitter and on the stump, flatly calling these women liars.
The reason Biden did the interview is because the only comment he made on the matter was through a statement certainly written by his campaign.
Trump was on twitter shorty after the accusations denying, ranting and threatening to sue.
So, it's not comparable.
Biden didn't have to go on Morning Joe. He didn't have to talk to Mika. He didn't even have to comment.
But he decided to because his initial response, a mere statement, was not proving sufficiently.
Anyway, here's just a sample of the media's coverage of Trump's accusations days before the election:
26 days before the election on Good Morning America:
From CBS News in October, 2016:
From CNN News:
The only difference is that Trump was out in front of these accusations right from the start. Biden waited weeks to make a public, spoken statement himself.
Because Trump was denying from the start, he wasn't expected to address it BECAUSE he pretty much already had.
Now Biden has as well.
