The armed protesters were in the background. Unarmed protesters went in and took over (on camera).

The armed folk, in masks and making explicit threats against people and from time to time actually putting holes in desks, walls, and floors (not just being intimidating by standing there or protesting) tended to be off camera.

The armed folk also had on masks and uniforms, Russian but with the identification of country/unit/name removed.

What nobody's telling me is that the armed protesters went in, took hostages, rounded up people having threatened to kill them (and shooting some rounds to punctuate their speech), and promptly started to administer things themselves.

These aren't trivial differences. Students have gone in and done a more serious job of taking over administrative offices than these bozos did.
