5. Sounds like the way they do things in CA is to suspend a lawyer

pending a full hearing, which seems odd under Avenatti's rather extreme circumstances. A while back I posted a description of a similar case in my state (though not as much money was involved), and that lawyer was summarily disbarred even before he was convicted. Avenatti probably isn't going to practice law ever again, though.
