5. He can't handle these confrontations like he used to

He has rejoinders he falls back on when confronted which are designed to shut people up, thus making him the winner. Now people have him figured out and continue to demand answers where they used to take the abuse. So now that their behavior has changed he can’t handle it. He’s decompensating. He can’t come up with cruel rejoinders so fast anymore. And he can’t cover it up so he pretends he just won’t deal with them.
