35. Absolutely weird and on many things tells me too much

One really weird part was this:

They first met at a party, Ann caught Mitt's eye but had come with another date. Never one to shy away from competition he sidled up to him and said: 'You know, I live closer to Ann than you do. Can I give her a ride home for you? And he said sure. So, we’ve been going steady ever since then.'

Either Ann's date did not really want that relationship to continue or he trusted Mitt. At any rate, why tell a sorry that makes Mitt look like a jerk?
