I see this in a lot of high school kids I knew. Not the greatest people I should add... most majorly fuc*ed up.

Dad did the same thing - they grew up "respecting" the dad as the absolute authority figure (and it transfers over to trump).
See "daddy" is "never wrong". So it "must" be right to do that, and it cements in their mind that authoritarianism = love.
