I had a chocolate pudding cake parfait for breakfast. Real cake, real pudding, layered in a parfait glass with Redi-whip on top. A few months ago I tried one of those pudding-cake-in-a-pan recipes and retch! The cake is bad. The pudding is bad. A dessert this good deserves to be made properly!
I used this Depression Cake recipe since I don't eat eggs. I cut the sugar to 2/3 cup and used one cup of strong coffee instead of plain water, and wow! It was delicious!

on edit: I just saw the post about the Godiva instant choco pudding. Oh my! I was going to wait until my birthday to make this again, but if I find that pudding, I may not be able to wait.
