2. When I was away at school, my mother used to send me newspaper clippings from home

One tragic one that I remember was about a girl that I'd gone to elementary school with. She apparently had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend who had been stationed overseas and locked herself in the bathroom and took an anti-malaria drug that she found there with his things. I don't remember what the drug was, but she died.
