36. Nothing to do with a circular firing squad

It is about recognizing that democrats should not take black votes for granted - not all blacks are willing to let that comment or perspective pass without comment. Noting a problem and expecting an apology and acknowledgement is not a circular firing squad. It is holding our own accountable, and insisting they do better. Ignoring it won't make the comment vanish. He said it. Wrestling with the implications of it is the adult thing to do - and what Biden did. Don't minimize the important of acknowledging and owning up to your mistakes.

The particular friend I've been quoting is 58. Is there a reason you keep putting friend in air quotes - it seems to suggest you believe any black friends I have may be imaginary.
