In reply to the discussion: What will you do if Trump refused to leave office or decides to stop election voting activities [View all]TreasonousBastard
(43,049 posts)enough people in this country who are willing to tear up the Constitution for Donald.
The states come up with the electors. Nothing so far says how the states come up with electors, and for years the legislatures did it. They can do it again.
And at this point nothing says they have to vote for whom they pledged, although that's been before the Supremes already, and will be again. Pressure on a few electors could change things. And since the 22(?) amendment, the election is certified by the incoming Congress not the outgoing one. Think about that for a minute.
Without another civil war, it seems to me that we have enough support within all three branches of government to frog march the present lump out of the White House if he doesn't get certified by Inauguration Day.
Ain't no emergency bad enough to keep this one in office.
