Could be true but coming from the 2 Priuss Ive had the Teslas total cost of ownership is on par with them and worlds better in safety and environmental impact.
No oil changes
No maintenance
Less than half the fossil fuel consumption
Able to carry more passengers and cargo
And only about $10k more than similarly speced Prius
